Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 August 2026

These terms cover your use of this website and, in summary form, the Deskhand software. By using the site you agree to them. They're written to be read, not skimmed past — they're short on purpose.

About us

This website and the Deskhand software are operated by Animus Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom.

Using this website

You may browse, link to, and quote from this site freely. You may not attempt to disrupt it, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, scrape it at abusive volume, or pass its content off as your own. The Deskhand name, logo, and the content of this site belong to Animus Ltd unless stated otherwise.

The free plugin

The Deskhand plugin is open-source software licensed under the GPL (v2 or later). You get the rights the GPL gives you — use, study, modify, redistribute — and we don't pretend otherwise. The free tier is fully functional without any account, key, or payment to us, and we commit to keeping it that way.

The plugin is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. You are responsible for configuring it — particularly which write actions you enable and the policies that govern them — and for testing it on your store before relying on it.

Paid licences

A paid licence (Pro or Agency) buys access to premium capability, software updates, and support for the licence period, per the tier's description at the time of purchase. Because the software is GPL, the licence governs the services around the code — updates, support, and our hosted infrastructure where applicable — not your right to run it.

If a licence expires or validation fails, the plugin degrades to the free tier. It does not break, lock, or hold your store's data hostage.

Third-party services and AI

Deskhand connects your store to a model provider using an API key you supply. Your use of that provider is governed by their terms, and their fees are yours to pay. You are responsible for what the agent is permitted to do on your store: Deskhand ships with all write actions disabled and gives you policy controls, an audit trail, and a simulation mode — using them is your side of the deal.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this website or the software, and our total liability in connection with a paid licence is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Trademarks

WooCommerce is a trademark of Automattic Inc. Deskhand is not affiliated with or endorsed by Automattic Inc. WordPress is a registered trademark of the WordPress Foundation.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version lives on this page with the date at the top; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new version.
